In the broader market, MSTR currently ranks around #279 in total market cap, placing it well outside the top 125. Companies like Palantir (5 times the size of MSTR) and Coinbase are currently poised to bump MSTR our of the index.
And don't forget the MSCI index committee still has their "ongoing study" about whether to allow DAT firms like MSTR to remain in the MSCI index. For now index funds are in "limbo", meaning they are not allowed to buy or sell shares of MSTR for rebalancing purposes until the study is completed. So the MSCI stay of execution granted back in January will not last forever.
The NASDAQ QQQ and MSCI index funds are the lifeblood that MSTR depends on to sell shares to in order to fund preferred dividends. By law MSTR can't sell shares of STRC or any other preferred stock to fund dividend obligations.
